In today’s digital age, new technologies are
constantly emerging that expand our capabilities. Nowhere has this
been more evident than in printing and publishing services. With a
PC on every desk and increasingly sophisticated office suites,
graphic, and desktop publishing software, it is now possible for
people who are not trained graphic artists or print-shop technicians
to create useful and cost-effective documents that convey a
professional appearance.
As long as the printing was black and white, the
equipment necessary to reproduce hundreds or thousands of
copies was within reach of almost all businesses and many
individuals. The advent of low-cost colour inkjet printers opened
our eyes to the possibilities afforded by the ability to reproduce
realistic photos and to highlight attention with a full spectrum of
colours to choose from. Unfortunately, inkjets are impractical for
any quantity, and high-volume colour printers are still beyond the
reach of most small businesses. Traditional commercial printers can
do the job, but have significant lead time and setup issues, and are
only cost-effective in high volumes. Copy shops can fill the gap,
but quality of reproduction is poor and cost-per-page is relatively
high.
Digital Print-on-Demand is a recent innovation,
now offered to you by Commeleon Inc. We use the latest high-speed
colour laser technology to efficiently and cost-effectively print
smaller runs (1—1,000+ copies). Every print is an original for
clear, crisp text and graphics, in full colour. Because you only
order the copies you need, when you need them, overhead costs and
wastage are kept to a minimum.
Commeleon offers you document services beyond your
current in-house capabilities, and will work in close collaboration
with you to achieve your goals. We can be utilized simply as a
remote network printer where you create the document and we just put
it on paper for you, or we can do the design and editing and other
services as you choose.
But take it a step further.
With some forethought, a single document may serve
many purposes. A product datasheet for instance, could also be
reproduced as an HTML page for use on a website, or as an Adobe
Acrobat™ PDF file for e-mailing. The same page could form a part of
a full-line catalogue, available in bound print or on a CDROM. The
document could be mass mailed or e-mailed, and with mail-merge
technology could even be personalized for the end user.
